Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival

2005 Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival
December 6-10,2005

TThe 2005 Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival (GZDOC 2005) will be held from 6th to 10th in December of this year in Guangzhou, China.
Its goals are:
1. To hold thematic and inspiring seminars for documentary films.
2. To award documentary filmmakers for their excellent work.
3. To build a channel of communication between documentary investors, producers and distributors.
4 To promote Chinese documentary films and filmmakers to the international market.

The theme of GZDOC 2005 is "Women Today". Documentary films covering the aspects of today's women, women’s independence or their self-awareness will be accepted for the competition.
The prizes are: Grand Prize, Jury Prize, Special Prize and Chinese Producer Prize.

Documart of GZDOC 2005 is open to documentaries with any theme. Participants with production plans are especially encouraged.
The submitted plans will be reviewed and commented by commissioning editors and investors from all over the world.

For Documart, GZDOC 2005 will sponsor 30 Chinese producers who are working on the themes on Chinese History and Culture, Women and Children, Nature, Animals and Environmental Protection; These Chinese producers will be provided free round-trip air tickets to come to Guangzhou.

Hot Docs is headed to Guangzhou, China for a trade mission to China's GZ DOC Festival, China's largest documentary event, taking place from December 6-10, 2005.

Michaelle McLean, Director of Hot Docs' Toronto Documentary Forum, will head the mission, which will provide delegates with full access to the festival. It is hoped that this mission will increase the visibility of our nation's documentary makers to key broadcasters in pan-Asian markets, while also providing formal and informal networking opportunities for participants to meet with Chinese documentary professionals, including commissioning editors, distributors, producers and directors. Hot Docs Managing Director Brett Hendrie is serving on the GZ DOC official competition jury
