Filmocracy Fest launches Hybrid Festival in December

Streaming Platform Will Integrate Discovery and Mentorship Programs

Filmocracy Fest (December 3-6, 2020) will be an innovative film and media festival, bringing together the best of traditional festival events, while integrating unique digital programs to create a memorable and productive experience. Led by festival veteran Jon Fitzgerald, a co-founder of Slamdance, the event will be developed on the basis of 4 key pillars: Discovery, Mentorship, Networking, and Experience.

The Festival will create opportunities for industry professionals and audiences to discover emerging voices in storytelling, while providing points of intersection between emerging talent and established veterans. “We recognize the importance of filmmakers advancing their careers and are excited to provide a unique combination of networking opportunities and mentorship programs to support future collaborations,” says Fitzgerald.  A deep roster of industry Ambassadors have committed time to participate in a series of keynotes, round table discussions and breakout sessions.

In addition to the special events and live screenings, the Festival will enable online audiences to participate through unique gamification programs, supported by the Filmocracy streaming platform.  With COVID-19 turning the film festival world upside down, with theaters closing and many evolving to successful online initiatives, Filmocracy Fest embraces innovative approaches to engaging with consumers through their digital platform, while rewarding participating filmmakers.  “We’re excited to leverage our discovery platform’s gamification features to engage audiences and reward them for their participation, while giving back to the filmmakers who work so hard to bring their stories to the world,” says Filmocracy founder Paul Jun.

Participating filmmakers will all earn a percentage of screening and admission fees for their participation.  Audiences will have the opportunity to leave ratings & earn treasure chests filled with virtual currency (popcorn). They can customize avatars and earn prizes for their interactions.

Filmocracy Fest will combine live screenings[1]  and venues throughout Los Angeles with online screenings, Q&A sessions, unique digital experiences, and script readings. As the modern film festival experience is being reinvented, Filmocracy Fest endeavors to take the best of both world, inspiring engagement with their current gamification model, while creating productive networking opportunities in person and digitally.

The Festival will have juries made up of distinguished industry professionals, in addition to having Audience Awards in narrative, documentary, short and scripted TV categories.  The next deadline for entries is July 19, and filmmakers are encouraged to visit the company website or submit through FilmFreeway.com.

Filmocracy is a gamified video streaming service that incentivizes users to watch, rate, and invest in films. We are evolving subscription video consumption into a gamified collaborative social network. Filmocracy will engage users in a network as opposed to treating them as consumers of a service.

is it worth adding in a "covid friendly environment" or something here so we don't worry people with the physical venue side
