FILMI South Asian Film Festival

The eighth Annual FILMI South Asian Film Festival (FSAFF), in association with TELUS, comes to the NFB mediatheque and AGO Jackman Hall in Toronto August 8 to 12.
This year's FILMI South Asian Film Festival 8 features a whole host of exciting and riveting films about South Asian Diaspora in an increasingly urbanizing and globalizing world. Programming highlights include: The closing night film Life in a Metro, by Anurag Basu, the hilarious Canadian premiere of Offshore by Diane Cheklich, Liz Mirmin's comical documentary Office Tigers, and the eye opening diary about Bollywood backup dancers Personality by Toronto's own Vinay Chowdhry. The best festival kicks off with a first look at the up coming feature film The Night Writer by Bobby S. Brown
The 8th Annual FILMI South Asian Film Festival in partnership with the NFB is also delighted to present a series of thought provoking documentaries called Women in Islam, featuring Me and my Mosque and Faith without Fear as part of daytime programming on Saturday August 11th, 2007 at the NFB mediatheque.
FILMI8 will also proud to showcase Richie Mehta's short Amal, now a feature film making its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, as an act of continued support for a local filmmaker whose early films all made their premiere at FILMI.
About Filmi
FILMI South Asian Film Festival (FSAFF) was founded by Mohit Rajhans and Dinesh Sachdev in 1999, with the goal to ignite a movement among South Asians in North America. Within 8 years FILMI has grown in original content, festival length, audience reach and attendance to become largest of its kind in North America and aspires to become the largest outside of India.
