EFA critics prize to The Weeping Meadow

THE WINNER OF THE EUROPEAN CRITICS AWARD 2004 - PRIX FIPRESCI

The European Film Academy and FIPRESCI today announced the winner of this year's Critics Award. The European Film Academy Critics Award 2004 - Prix FIPRESCI goes to the Greek film

"Trilogy - The Weeping Meadow"
(Trilogia - To Livadi Pou Dakrizi)
by Theo Angelopoulos

The Critics' Award is presented in co-operation between the European Film Academy and the International Federation of Film Critics, FIPRESCI. In his statement, FIPRESCI president Michel Ciment said, "The magic fusion of colours, sounds, music and images able to express the deepest feelings surrounding life and death defines 'The Weeping Meadow' as a cinema of poetry, all too rare in present-day production." (Read the complete text at www.fipresci.org).

The award will be presented during the Awards Ceremony at the Barcelona International Convention Center CCIB in Barcelony on Saturday, December 11, 2004.
