Durban Festival The curator speaks out…

The 27 the Durban International Film Festival has come to an end and the curator, Nashen Moodley, is extremely proud of the festival.
According to Nashen, the festival is the biggest of its kind in South Africa with the most films and is an integral part of the sunny city on the South Coast.
"We had a very successful festival with the most filmmakers ever and the diversity was excellent," he said.
Nashen's personal highlight was the Iranian films and directors present at the festival. He is also very happy with the Korean film, The Peter Pan Formula, that won an award.
With many festivals suffering to show films that are not in English, foreign language films were plentiful in Durban this year. According to Nashen, that's what is film festival is about to them. "We want to show films from around the world with language not the deciding factor," he said.
What waits for Durban in 2007? "We will not lengthen the festival and may lose a day. We are looking at changing the dates to get the schoolchildren involved as many were writing exams during this year's festival. This would mean the festival may take place at the end of July and overflowing into August."
