Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

DOG SWEAT turns up the heat at LA Fest

Director/writer/producer Hossein Keshavarz along with Maryam Azadi who is also the writer/producer of this film take us on journey into the lives of young adults who are living in Tehran and are dealing with issues which are commonplace in our everyday lives in real life and on reality TV in America.
The film’s title is the Iranian term for moonshine. So this is not a doggie movie but a presentation what a dog’s life can be if you follow the culture and its traditional values.
So you will not be able to see this story on reality TV in Tehran because the system would never allow it to be shown but now fortunately for us we have a film completely shot guerilla style secretly in Tehran using cinema verite in the truest sense
These courageous filmmakers placed themselves in danger in order to create this portrait of present day Iran and Pandora’s Box is opened for us to view. We enter the lives of six people and those of us who are parents are well aware of these difficulties that our children go through and the choices that they have to make and the risks they take because mommy and daddy would not permit them to do so or tell them not to do so
We see the real Iran without censorship and not what the government wishes us to see. The risks taken by the filmmakers along with actors needs to be applauded and praised.
This film is a must see for everyone and will playing again on Thursday in the film program of the Los Angeles Film Festival at the Regal Cinemas in downtown Los Angeles
