Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

Director Nicolas Philibert Masterclass at Punto de Vista

Nicolas Philibert, director of the acclaimed Être et Avoir (To Be and To Have) (2002), is to be one of the guests at the upcoming Festival. The French director shall give a masterclass on Monday the 18th of February, a session at which Philibert shall review his work and take a look at his way of living film in the company of all those attending.
A simple, friendly filmmaker, his style flitters between observation-based and interactive documentary, delving into the space in between direct intervention and distant overview. It is in his work from a distance where the filmmaker tries to go unnoticed, though never renouncing a desire to mark his own point of view, interacting with his subject matter. In his films, the camera seems to constantly reach into the frame which it defines, seeking out those who populate it, redefining and questioning their situation and, consequently, that of ourselves in relation.
The masterclass will take place from 5 to 8 pm on Monday the 18th of February at Civican. Simultaneous translation into Spanish will be available. Registration opens on the 13th of December and will remain open while places last. Those interested in attending this encounter with the French director should register by calling Tel. ++ 948 222333. The masterclass costs ? 15 (? 12 for CAN clubs).
In addition to giving his masterclass at Punto de Vista, Nicolas Philibert shall also be presenting his latest film, Retour en Normandie (Back to Normandy), as well as La moindre des choses (Every Little Thing) and La ville Louvre (Louvre City).
