MGLFF Program Director Carol Coombes hosts the HBO "Best of the Festival" Awards Ceremony and announces the winners in the juried categories of the $1,000 Best Fiction Feature, the $1,000 Best Documentary and Best Short, and Wolfe Career Achievement Award presented to producer Andrea Sperling

Godard's famous line "All you need to make a film is a girl and a gun" is embellished with lipstick, perfect hair, a plaid skirt, and crisp white socks in this all-girl-action adventure romp by debut feature director Angela Robinson.

The U.S. government has hidden a complex psychological test within the school S.A.T. examination to measure one's aptitude for lying, cheating and killing. The highest scorers are recruited to join an all-girl academy, supervised by the watchful eye of headmistress Mrs. Peatree. Only the créme-de-la-créme are recruited into an elite paramilitary group, code-named D.E.B.S. Trained to kick-box, carry guns, and run after bad guys in high heels, four young intelligent spies: Amy (the only girl ever to earn a perfect score on the secret test), Max, Janet, and Dominique have a clear assignment to protect the nation from dastardly acts of international terrorism.

When the D.E.B.S. are given a mission to capture the gorgeously sexy evil vixen Lucy Diamond, and thwart her plans to sink Australia, hearts bump, literally, when Lucy and Amy collide in a chase. It's lonely being on America's Most Wanted list, and rather than kill, Lucy opts to ask Amy out on a date. When Amy orchestrates her own kidnapping, the D.E.B.S. sprint into action to discover that love has captured their top secret agent.

With a knowing nod to Charlie's Angels, 007 and Austin Powers, D.E.B.S., winner of the PlanetOut. com Grand Prize Award for best short film in our 2003 festival, has with masterful skill been developed into a full-blown feature that juggles action and girl-kick-ass drama while retaining at its heart an endearing and sweet coming out love story between two young women. Armed with a PG-13 classification, it's a sure-fire winner that will appeal to all ages and genders.

Director Angela Robinson and Producer Andrea Sperling (who is the recipient of the Wolfe Career Achievement Award) will attend the screening and discuss the film with the audience. Kathy Wolfe, C.E.O of WolfeVideo will present the Wolfe Career Achievement Award to Andrea Sperling.
