DEAD GIRL awarded with Kodak NPP Development Prize

Feature film project DEAD GIRL awarded with Kodak NPP Development Prize

The Kodak NPP Development Prize was presented during the eighth Netherlands Production Platform (NPP) to director, producer and writer Elbert van Strien and producer Claudia Brandt for their feature film project DEAD GIRL.

The jury, made up of producer Pieter Jan Brugge, David Lauwen (financial manager Fine BV), Louis Machado (country manager / Kodak Cinema & Television), Marten Rabarts (artistic director, Binger), awards the prize to the film project because it "conveyed a level of passion and commitment by the film makers whom moreover give believe and insight in what they are going to make."

In DEAD GIRL (producers Claudia Brandt and Elbert van Strien for Accento Films, director Elbert van Strien, writers Elbert van Strien en Paulo van Vliet), the nine-year-old Lisa discovers her sinister new friend is the ghost of the dead twin of Lisa's mother. Then Lisa's father also begins to suspect his wife of hiding a terrible secret, resulting in
deadly consequences….

Kodak sponsors the NPP Development Prize (5,000 Euro) with the aim of facilitating further financial development of the new project. The prize aims to support the work of producers committed to developing and supporting talent driven by story and artistic voice. It is awarded to recognize the clarity of vision and commitment to the specific project presented during the NPP by the producer and the creative team. The Dutch film projects from the selection made by the NPP were eligible for the prize.

Earlier, the projects JOE SPEEDBOAT (producer Marc Bary for IJswater Film, director André van Duren, writer Heleen Suèr) and LULU'S RETURN, (co-producer Aron Sipos for the Hungarian Focus Film Ltd., director Rudolf van den Berg, writer Benedict Schillemans) were also shortlisted for the prize.

The NPP is part of the Holland Film Meeting, organised by the Netherlands Film Festival for the 19th time until Monday 2 October. This year, eight Dutch and thirteen European feature film projects in development were presented to a panel of international producers and financiers.
