Cinéfondation Prizes 2009 awarded today by the Jury

This year, the Cinéfondation Selection showed 17 films from Asia, Europe, North and South America selected from the 1400 student films submitted.
The Cinéfondation and Short Films Jury presided by John Boorman and composed of film directors Bertrand Bonello and Ferid Boughedir and actresses Leonor Silveira and Zhang Ziyi has awarded prizes to the following films during a ceremony in Buñuel Theatre:

First Prize:
BÁBA
directed by Zuzana Kirchnerová-Špidlová
FAMU, Czech Republic

Second Prize:
GOODBYE
directed by Song Fang
Beijing Film Academy, China

Third Prize (joint prize):
DIPLOMA
directed by Yaelle Kayam
The Sam Spiegel Film & TV School, Israel

DON’T STEP OUT OF THE HOUSE
directed by Jo Sung-hee
Korean Academy of Film Arts, South Korea


The films awarded will also receive 15 000 € for the First Prize, 11 250 € for the Second Prize and 7 500 € for the Third Prize.

Many films from previous Cinéfondation Selections directors are present in different sections of the Festival, among them: Ordinary People by Vladimir Perisic (2003 selection) at the Critics’ Week, Eyes Wide Open by Haim Tabakman (2003 and 2004 selections), Politist, Adjectiv by Corneliu Porumboiu (Joint Second Prize in 2004), Skazka pro Temnotu by Nikolay Khomeriki (Joint Second Prize in 2005), all at Un Certain Regard, No meu lugar by Eduardo Valente (First Prize in 2002), Séance Spéciale.
The Cinéfondation Selection, created in 1998, is proud to have revealed and accompanied the work and development of these new talents of the international cinema.
