Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

Cine Las Americas International Film Festival

The 11th Cine Las Americas International Film Festival will screen a total of -eighty-two films from eighteen countries. Genres this year will include drama, documentary, experimental, animation, film noir, thriller, comedy and fantasy (to see the complete list of films go to http://www.cinelasamericas.org/festival/films_by_section.html).

"Thirteen films address immigration to and from the U.S. or Europe and/or issues related to the U.S. and Mexico border", explained Jacqueline Rush Rivera, Director of Programming. "The films approach the subject of immigration from a variety of points of view. The fact that so many films are exploring this issue reveals how deeply this topic continues to resonate through our society," she concludes.

New releases will be screened at the Paramount Theater, Metropolitan Regal and Alamo Draft House South. Screenings will also take place at Mexican-American Cultural Center.

Dates, times and venues where the films will be screening will be announced soon at www.cinelasamericas.org. All information is subject to change.

The jury members for the film festival competitions follow:
• First and Second Narrative Feature and Narrative Shorts Jury: Alejandro Springall, Chale Nafus, Darlene Sadlier
• Documentary and Documentary Shorts Jury: Paul Espinosa, Shirley K. Sneve, Anne Lewis
2008).
