Century City has its Festival

65 FILMS SELECTED FOR INAUGURAL CENTURY CITY FILM FESTIVAL

Nine independently produced features, six documentaries and fifty shorts have been selected for screening at the inaugural Century City Film Festival (CCFF) running October 27 – 30, 2004. The films follow a theme of, "Camp, Cult, Classics."
A retrospective screening of the cult classic “Car Wash” will be screened with stars and filmmakers in attendance, following the awards ceremony at the 20th Century Fox Zanuck Theatre on the closing night.
Festival Director Patrice Williams stated: “We received more than five hundred
submissions from around the world with no shortage of quality films.
“In the documentary section we have an incredible selection of films, including John Halpern’s ‘Refuge’ which involves such top filmmakers as Martin Scorsese, Oliver Stone, Bernardo Bertolucci, as well as the Dalai Lama, discussing controversial issues concerning Buddhism in the West. So this makes for a very exciting inaugural year for our festival.” Additional Docs include Leslie Neale’s “Juvies,” narrated and produced by Mark Walhberg, exploring America’s failing juvenile justice system; Terry L. Benedict’s “The Conscientious Objector” about an American objector awarded the Medal of Honor in World War II; “Put the Needle on the Record,” director Jason Rem’s look at Miami’s annual Winter Music Conference; “Public Access Hollywood,” directed by Will Peragine, starring Dr. Susan Block and other wacky, home-spun public access stars; and "Wrestling with the North," directed by Andrew Lee, starring a string of "almost-famous" and first-time wrestlers.
