Once Again (and for the 10th time) the beautiful island of Capri will host the Capri, Hollywood Film Festival: a great annual celebration of international cinema, to TAKE PLACE from December 27, 2005, to January 2, 2006.

The Director General announced that this tenth anniversary edition of the event will be produced with the sponsorship of the Ministry of the Cultural Assets, the Campania Region and the Chamber of Commerce of Naples, with major contributions from RAI Trade, Cinecittà Holding, Kimbo Coffee, Lete Mineral Water, Harmont & Blaine, and RAI Sat Extra.

Capri, Hollywood – Kimbo International Film Festival presents a rich calendar of national and international previews, and reviews of the most meaningful Italian works of the season. Capri Awards will be presented to leading actors, authors and leaders of the big screen. The year’s most deserving Italian young people in the film industry will have their chance to shine alongside stars of Hollywood, Italy and the international cinema.

This 10th anniversary festival will be distinguished not only by the film and musical events of great artistic importance, but also by the forum that will enliven the week at Capri: “Cinema – Where is the Money? Television, Telecommunications, Product Placement, Distribution and Production: Guarantees for the Future of the Big Screen.” Special prizes will honor works on burning topics of social justice, including the Capri-Lete Peace Award to Roberto Faenza’s film about the Mafia murder of a priest, In the Light of the Sun. The festival’s inaugural screening on December 27 will be All The Invisible Children, a film about the traumatic conditions in which millions of children around the world are trapped. Producers Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Chiara Tilesi and Stefano Veneruso will receive the Capri-Harmont & Blaine People Award. Ron, officially known as Rosalino Cellamare, will be honored for his role in creating But When You Say Love with a group of great Italian musicians and the magazine of the newspaper Corriere della Sera as a benefit for AISLA, the Italian association fighting Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

The American directors Terry Gilliam, Taylor Hackford and Abel Ferrara; Indian director Shekhar Kapur, and Englishwoman Martha Fiennes are some of the other artists scheduled to attend the year-end festivities on Capri.

Among the other personalities who will receive special acknowledgments at the Festival are the legendary Swedish actor Max Von Sydow. He will receive a Capri-Lete Legend Award after introducing in world-wide preview a behind-the-scenes special his wife, Katrin, filmed on the set of Giulio Base’s new film, Inquiry, a remake of Damiano Damiani’s work of the same name.

The Campania Region Special Prize will go to director Michael Radford for his 1994 international hit film, The Postman. Costume designer Gabriella Pescucci, already an Oscar winner, will receive the prestigious fifth annual Umberto Tirelli International Prize for achievement in costuming.

Singer Biagio Antonacci will be presented the Capri Music Award. Just four months earlier, he was named Italy’s top-selling recording star at the World Music Awards on the stage of the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, alongside other stars such as Carlos Santana, Mariah Carey, Bon Jovi and Destiny’s Child.

Distributor Ernesto Tabarelli, president of Mediafilm, will receive the Capri Box Office Award. Writer Vincenzo Cerami will receive the Capri Arts Award in honor of his versatile artistic talent. Actors Remo Girone, who has been in nearly 60 theatre and television films during more than 30 years; the United Kingdom’s Helen Mirren, a two-time Oscar nominee for The Madness of King George (1994) and Gosford Park (2001), and Polish director Krzysztof Zanussi, who has been making films and documentaries for nearly 50 years, will be honored with Capri Kimbo Lifetime Achievement Awards. Giorgio Panariello, on the eve of the 2006 Festival of San Remo, will be recognized as the most popular Italian actor in a vote of Internet users. Capri Harmont & Blaine Exploit Awards will go to Corrado Fortuna, co-star of In the Light of the Sun; Gaia Bermani Amaral, co-star of I Giorni dell’Abbandono, and Luca Guadagnino, director of Melissa P.
