Buenos Aires BAFICI celebrates independent film

The seventh edition of the Buenos Aires Internatinal Film Festival of Independent Cinema (BAFICI)
The Buenos Aires Festival will take place from April 12 to April 24. It will showcase more than 400 works (including short and feature films). Movies of important film makers from all over the world are invited like Abbas Kiarostami, Jean-Luc Godard, Amos Gitaï, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Chris Marker, Robert Guédiguian, Rithy Panh, Agnès Varda, Vincenzo Marra, John Sayles, Todd Solondz, Hal Hartley, Olivier Assayas, John Waters o Goran Paskaljevic.
Fernando Martín Peña serves as new president of the Festival.
Students and retired people will get discounts on their tickets. This policy tries to broaden the festival's appeal.
There will be two main competitions.
The International competion has 18 movies: ( first or second works).To name a few: "l'Esquive" from Abdellatif Kechiche , recent Cesar winner, "Samoa", by Ernesto Baca, "Monobloc" by Luis Ortega and "Cándido Lopez" by Luis Garcia.

The second competition is open for Argentine movie makers. “Después de la Tierra” by Luciano Bertone, “Como pasan las horas” by Inés de Oliveira César, “Como un avión estrellado” by Ezequiel Acuña, among others will appear on the competition.
