For the first time, the Bitfilm Festival for digital film will show its entire programme on the internet. The decisions about the Bitfilm Awards will take place in a „viral voting“ process within the global internet community.

On September, 7 the festival starts on the web at www.bitfilm.com/festival. More than 130 long and short films compete in seven categories: from feature-length 3D films from Hollywood or 30 seconds short clips for mobile phones – the Bitfilm team has selected the best works out of 750 films from 51 countries. The internet surfers are asked to spread their favourites on the web. The film with the highest „viral potential“ of each category will win the Bitfilm Award. The phenomenon „virus movies“ has become a hot issue in the marketing world. Short films which circulate through the internet, and thereby reach millions of surfers, seem to be a revolutionary way to advertise.
