Asia Pacific Screen Lab submissions open
ASIA PACIFIC SCREEN LAB OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS
Griffith Film School, the Asia Pacific Screen Academy, Sun Foundation and NETPAC are pleased to announce the Call for Submissions for the 9th Asia Pacific Screen Lab.
At its core the Lab develops a vehicle for enabling film co-productions by early career feature filmmakers from across the Asia Pacific, typically those who have made at least one feature film within their particular national cinema and are now ready for a larger international framework.
Currently in its eighth year, the Asia Pacific Screen Lab has doubled its intake, and forged a new relationship with Film Schools Without Borders to support emerging filmmakers from countries without established film schools.
Participants receive a year-long individual consultation and workshops to further their project, with mentors chosen from the APSA Academy. Current mentor Jeremy Chua's Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell recently won the Camera d'or at Cannes Film Festival, and Producing Expert Fran Borgia's Tiger Stripes won the Critics' Week Grand Prize.
The mentors, participants and industry experts gather several times to workshop the selected projects. Previous projects include the awarding winning feature films A Land Imagined (2018) and Haifa Street (2019).
Submissions close 1 October 2023. Mentors and receipients for the 2024 intake will be announced during the Asia Pacific Screen Forum in November.
Visit www.griffith.edu.au/arts-education-law/griffith-film-school/asia-pacific-screen-lab for application form details. Queries and submissions can be made to Donna Hamilton at d.hamilton@griffith.edu.au.
The Asia Pacific Screen Lab is made possible through the support of Griffith Film School, Griffith University, Park Kiyong (Founder Asian Film Academy, KAFA and Dankook University, Seoul), NETPAC and The Sun Foundation.
