Annual Tucson Film + Music Festival

3rd ANNUAL TUCSON FILM + MUSIC FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES LINE UP

Los Angeles CA + Tucson, AZ (August 16, 2007) Upstairs Film is proud to present the 3rd Annual Tucson Film + Music Festival, Labor Day weekend August 31 – Sept 3, 2007. This year a plethora of film and music events will take place at the Rialto Theater, Hotel Congress with a special “under the stars” kick off screening of Martin Scorsese’s “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (1974)” at the Cinema La Placita downtown.

The festival is thrilled to host the Arizona premiere of “Scott Walker: 30 Century Man” as the opening night film. Featuring David Bowie, Sting, Radiohead and many other music luminaries, the film offers a glimpse into the extraordinary career of American-born, UK pop idol Scott Walker. The film screens Friday, August 31st at 7:30pm and will be followed by a special live musical accompaniment by the Friends of Dean Martinez to the 1926 animated classic “The Adventures of Prince Achmed.”

Closing out the festival is another Arizona premiere – the all-female roller derby drama “Hell On Wheels.” This kick-ass documentary details the re-birth of the international roller derby scene. Directed by Austin filmmaker Bob Ray, who will be in attendance and available for Q&A, the screening will be followed by the closing night party with local rockers Love Mound performing and one of kind host/derby announcer Serge.

Other great Arizona premieres include Compañeras, about the first all-female mariachi bad; Get Trashed: The Story of Thrash Metal; Rock and Roll Gearhead: Four Days With Billy F. Gibbons; and The Last Western, which provides an interesting history of California’s Pioneertown.

A complete list of films and schedule of events can be found at www.tucsonfilmandmusicfestival.com!
