Announcing the nominees to the Stockholm Feature Film Award 2012

This year's three finalists for the 2nd edition of the Stockholm Feature Film Award have been selected. The winner will receive production support of more than five million SEK. - To highlight female directors and provide a platform is a concrete way of letting new talents reach their audiences. It is with great joy to see that both the business world, government and culture stand together behind a project so important, says Git Scheynius, Festival Director. Female directors who have made a maximum of two feature films are eligible for the award. In 2011, Sofia Norlin was awarded the first Stockholm Feature Film Award. Her film will premiere at the festival in 2013. This year's winner will be announced on November 17 at the Stockholm International Film Festival’s Award Ceremony. The film premieres at the festival and will be distributed by NonStop Entertainment to Scandinavian and Baltic countries. 14 days after its Swedish theatrical release, it will be shown exclusively in the Telia Digital-TV Video Store. The nominated projects Wasted Can you survive your last year as a teenager without going under? Will you reach 20? A Swedish drama about surviving, with a strong and complex female lead. Director Marietta Von Hausswolf von Baumgarten. Script writer to Call Girl, a film that received the film critic's award – the Fipresci Award – at this year's Toronto International Film Festival. Producer Helle Ulsteen Jensen and Helena Danielsson, Scandinavian Lovers Unga Sophie Bell (“Young Sophie Bell”) Friendship, sex and fucking death. An exciting and emotionally touching coming-of-age story about embracing the future and at the same time processing the past. Director Amanda Olofsson. Stockholm Dramatic Institute graduate and winner of the Stockholm Film Festival scholarship 1km Film in 2006, Unga Sophie Bell is her feature length directorial debut. Producer Gila Bergkvist Ulfung, Breidablicj Film Cayuco Drama about sixteen year old Sara from Sweden visiting the Canarie Islands when an overloaded refugee boat wrecks off the coast. Among the survivors after the perilious journey towards the dream of Europe is youngster Mamadou. Director Görel Crona. Actress who's feature film debut Tysta Leken (2011) was awarded the debut award from Swedish national broadcaster SVT and has been screened at a number of festivals such as Valladoid, Montreal, Las Palmas and Istanbul. Producer Klara Björk, Filmkreatörerna About Stockholm Feature Film Award The purpose of the scholarship is to highlight female directors with a clear vision and a focus on strong stories. The Scholarship was initiated by Stockholm International Film Festival with Telia as Main Sponsor and with support from The Swedish Film Institute, EuroSound, Dagsljus and SVT. The winner will receive the award at the Stockholm Film Festival's awards ceremony November 17h, 2012 and the finished film will have its world premiere at Stockholm International Film Festival.
