Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

Anima will take place from Feb. 1 to 9, 2008

The next edition from Anima will take place from Feb. 1 to 9, 2008 in the Flagey Theater, Brussels.

Anima spectators will once again give their greedy eyes an annual dose of the newest, funny, quirky or curious moving images around.

The Festival gets off to an early start (from 1st to 9th February) in all the Flagey movie theatres in Brussels. It will also be travelling to Liège, Ghent, Charleroi and Mons.
“Fear(s) of the Dark” is an animated film created by a collection of widely respected comic artists, ranging from Lorenzo Mattotti to Richard McGuire. The film will open Anima 2008 on Friday, 1st February, while the Swiss/Belgian stop-motion co-production, “Max and Co”, will give the kids a treat as the opener the following day.

Anima’s international competition has been given a new look with a section for commercials, credit sequences and music videos to run alongside the short and feature film categories; the perfect occasion to see what is going on in a sector that owes much to animation and gives back well in return.

Over one hundred films in the international competition, including around a dozen new features, retrospectives, exhibitions, master-classes, workshops, events like “la Nuit animées”, the Futuranima forum, a special screening of “homemade” films, guests and a unique atmosphere, with clowns and make-up for the kids and groups, Djs and Vjs for the others.

We’re expecting around forty guests who will share their time between Anima, Futuranima and the different juries.

The Anima Festival is organised by Folioscope, a Belgian association that also manages other activities linked to animation like programme planning, Anima Saturday screenings, DVDs, exhibitions and publications about animation.
