A second theatre in Cuba will play Quebec and Canadian movies

The CINÉ TEATRO ENCANTO is located in the city of Baracoa, Cuba, already boasts a sumptuous 380-seat theatre. The organizers now plan to add a second theatre with 100 seats situated in the main lobby of the cinema.

 

Québécois and Canadian movies will be shown with Spanish subtitles in both theatres.

Films of all genres will be showcased; fiction and documentary, long or short subjects.

Québécois and Canadian filmmakers and actors will be invited to present and discuss their work with the local Cuban public of Baracoa, followed by the cities of Guantanamo, Santiago de Cuba and Havana.

These  presentations are scheduled for 2022-23.

 

As a follow-up to this new venture highlighting three distinct types of cinematography, Cuban filmmakers and actors will be invited in 2023 to showcase and discuss their films (with French or English subtitles) in the cities of Montréal, Québec, Sherbrooke and Toronto.

 

The regular all-year-round programming of the Ciné Encanto consist of films from around the world, festivals, special events, music, dancing, karaoké...

All is organized in collaboration with schools, hospitals, associations of elders, families, women, children and youngsters.

 

Ciné Encanto does absolutely everything to reach every kind of public.

Its goal is to reignite the passion of cinema viewed on a large screen.

 

The CINÉ TEATRO ENCANTO is managed by Eroides MENDEZ, General Director and Yugala MORALES, Programming Director.

Ciné Encanto is supported by ICAIC - the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry.

 

The CUBA/QUÉBEC-CANADA CinéExchange project is a friendly collaboration since

2019 between Ciné Teatro Encanto and Claude CHAMBERLAN, coFounder & Artistic Director of the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma de Montréal and the Cinéma Parallèle, and Programming Director of Cinéma ExCentris and Cinéma du Parc.
