The 2nd India International Women Film Festival 06 is slated to be held in New Delhi, India, from 11th Dec' to 18th Dec' 06 supported by the Ministry of I&B, Govt. of India, & Govt. of Delhi .

Ms Shyamali Banerjee, Festival Director, tells us more about his festival:

"The main venue for the festival as chosen are as follows : SIRI FORT (all 4 audis) BANGA SANSKRITI MANCHA ( GOLE MARKET)New Delhi.
Around 130 films will be screened & 30countries will be participating. We do have different sections like Cinema of the World (competitive), World Cinema ( non competitive), International Focus ( country focus : Israel), Indian Panorama, Documentary (competition), Documentary( non competitive), Tribute( Mnju Dey,Bengal's pioneer Director), Retrospective ( Oscar winning German Women Director Caroline Link), Special Retrospective (Aparna Sen), Jt. Hand ( where both men & women are the director), Focus Institute ( pioneering institutes like Cuban Film Institute, Mexican Film Institute, Polish Film Institute, Berlin Film Institute, Satyajit Ray Film Institute, Pune Film Institute will take in this section) & Male Voice.

For this year we are going to launch Competition for Feature ( Best Director & Best Film )& for Documentary as well.
Our objective is to give boost to promising women film directors working independently all over the world.

Because film is no longer a mode of entertainment only rather an internally acclaimed visual text capable of exposing all that lies behind a transparent rendering of the real film festivals have become an indispensable event for those involved in this media. India International Women Film Festival, first ever in India, is expected to highlight the budding talents that remain otherwise unnoticed & their experimental works.
