For the ninth time, the Max Ophüls Prize awards an honorary prize for services to young German-language film. With Rosa von Praunheim, the festival honors an icon of German independent film, whose cinematic and social influence has shaped and inspired generations of artists. "Countless contributions in the past 40 years of our newcomer film festival would never have come about without the influence and work of Rosa von Praunheim. For the young talents, but also for our society, he represents an unconditional role model in his multifaceted work, "says festival director Svenja Böttger. "We are very happy to award Rosa von Praunheim the honorary prize of the festival for his inspiration and his encouragement to all of us to draw art from our hearts."
