4+1 Film Festival competitive line up

12 movies from 12 countries will compete for the Best Film Award in the 4+1 Film Festival

Madrid, October 11 2010
The singular FUNDACIÓN MAPFRE 4+1 FILM FESTIVAL- that will be held simultaneously in Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Ciudad de México, Madrid and São Pablo from November 11th to the 14th of 2010- will have 12 movies from 12 countries in its first edition’s competitive section. Prestigious filmmakers such as Gus Van Sant, Jane Campion or Agnès Varda and new top directors as Filipino Raya Marin, Cambodian Rithy Pann or Argentinean Pablo Agüero, among others, will be competing for the Best Film Award accompanied with 20.000€, given by the vote of the attending audience. The philosophy behind this festival in to gather significant author cinema films that, in spite of their cinematic value, having participated in prestigious festivals, have yet to access commercial circuits.
In this first edition of the 4+1 Film Festival the movies competing for the Best Film Award will be: Huacho by Alejandro Fernández Almendras; Sweetgrass by Ilsa Barbashm and Lucien Castaing-Taylor; Eastern Plays by Kamen Kalev; Independencia by Raya Martin; Irène by Alain Cavalier; Le Roi de L’Evasion by Alain Guiraudie; Salamandra by Pablo Agüero; Le Pere de Mes Enfants by Mia Hanson-Løve; Les Plages d’Agnès by Agnès Varda; Treeless Mountain by So-Yong Kim; Un Barrage Contre le Pacifique (The Sea Wall) by Rithy Pann and 8 by Abderrahmane Sissako (Tiya’s Dream); Gael García Bernal (The Letter); Gaspar Noe (Sida); Mira Nair (How can it be?); Jane Campion (The Water Diary); Gus Van Sant (Mansion on the Hill); Jan Kouen (The Story of Panshin Beka) and Wim Wenders. Also, the Honorary Section will be dedicated to the Honored Guest hosted by the Festival in its official venue, this year being the MALBA-FUNDACIÓN COSTANTINI of Buenos Aires. The 4+1 Film Festival will also be held at the Cinemateca Distrital de Bogotá and the Cine Colombia (Bogotá), the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires-Fundación Costantini (Buenos Aires), the Cine Palafox (Madrid), the Cineteca Nacional de México (México City) and the Cinemateca Brasileira (São Paulo).
