36th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia announces awards

Festival in Gdynia is primarily the showcase of Polish cinema - the best films of the year, the most influential filmmakers, vital topics. Modernity meets here in a dialogue with history: new generations of filmmakers are confronted with the masters, and new generations of critics reinterpret the classics of Polish cinema. In this year edition the Main Competition involved 12 titles of which the descriptions I am sending enclosed.

The Jury of 36th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia that took place in June 6th – 11th have decided to award the following:

THE GRAND AWARD "THE GOLDEN LIONS" for the best film "Essential Killing" directed by Jerzy Skolimowski

THE GRAND AWARD "THE GOLDEN LIONS" for the producers of the best film "Essential Killing" - Ewa Piaskowska i Jerzy Skolimowski

THE PRIZE ”SILVER LIONS” for the film ”Suicide Room” directed by Jan Komasa

THE PRIZE ”SILVER LIONS” for the producers of the film ”Suicide Room” - Jerzy Kapuściński / KADR STUDIO

SPECIAL PRIZE OF THE JURY for the film ”Mill and The Cross” directed by Lech Majewski

BEST DIRECTING: Jerzy Skolimowski for ”Essential Kiling”
BEST SCREENPLAY: Janusz Margański, Greg Zgliński for ”Courage”
