25th Atlantic Film Festival closes with awards

The 25th Atlantic Film Festival (September 15-24) announced today 14 of the 15 Atlantic Film Festival awards of 2005. The winners are as follows:

Atlantic Canadian Awards:

Best Atlantic Short Film ($5,000 services)
Tim Wilson – The Last Weir

Outstanding Writer’s Award
Daniel MacIvor and Amnon Buchbinder – Whole New Thing

Rex Tasker Award for Best Documentary ($1,000 cash)
Andrea Dorfman – Sluts: The Documentary

Outstanding Performance by an Actor – Male
Daniel MacIvor and Aaron Webber – Whole New Thing

Outstanding Performance by an Actor – Female
Kristin Bell – Focus Group Therapy

Ed Higginson Cinematography Award ($12,500 in equipment and services)
Tom Harting – 3 Needles

Best Direction Award
Thom Fitzgerald – 3 Needles

Excellence in Art Direction ($500 cash to award recipient, $10,000 services to director)
Kevin Pitman – Copain de Paris

Excellence in Editing ($500 cash to award recipient, $10,000 services to director)
