After ten years our International Panorama - the 10th in a row- will take place at Patras city, Greece. In preparation
for the next Panorama which is to take place from 3 to 11th of Octomber 2008 and in keeping with its tradition of improvement with each passing year, our Panorama is announcing that its renewed web page is now available. www.independent.gr
Our International Panorama is aware that it is dealing with audiences disgusted by the cheap mass subculture and is longing for quality culture and quality cinema. We believe that such a “cinema fest” which is breaking new ground in our country should be up to the standards of similar events abroad, since the institution of Independent alternative festivals is winning over more and more audiences. During the panorama, new artists from all over the world will be invited to present their work, early or otherwise, with no exclusion or interference of petty interests, respecting the culture and values of each people and each creator. All the productions will be independent ones, which means that no govermental body or big studio has offered them financial support, and will be “films d’auteur” considered to be the “jewels” of world cinema and reflect the sense of freedom that has gone into their making.

Ten years ago we realised a dream of ours by hosting the first Panorama of Young Video artists which featured only Greek artists and screened only short films. The spontaneity, the originality and the pleasant and informal atmosphere were its main characteristics… The characteristics of an experiment that worked.
This is how we came to the last 8th Panorama with 208 films from 55 countries and with 112 Greek Films and 96 films from abroad..
Our enthusiasm and devotion was the same but the eight panoramas differed. We try to constantly improve – at the organisational level as well as at the programme level. We truly hope that we made it.
