Festival de Cinema de Avanca 2011

Since its debut in 1997, the “International Meetings in Cinema,
Television, Vídeo and Multimédia – AVANCA ’11″ festival has steadily
grown in audience turnout and its number of film submissions. Avanca has
also succeeded in becoming the largest audiovisuals workshop space in
Europe in the past 15 years.

This year, Avanca invited ÉCU Festival Manager Kädi Lokk to the
festival to serve on its jury board! Renowned for serving as an
international meeting ground for cinema, television, video and
multimedia, Kädi is eager to see the film talent that awaits her in
Avanca, Portugal!

Day 1

Numerous awards were handed out to the winners of the 2010 festival at Avanca’s opening night soirée, July 20th.

Feature Film Prize: Altiplano, by Peter Brosens and Jessica Woodworth (Belgium)

Special Mention Feature: Moja Crew by Marcin Wrona (Poland) ;  When the Lemons turned Yellow, by Mohammadreza Vatandoust (Iran)

Short Film Prize: Don’t be Afraid of the Dark Room, by Kuba Czekaj (Poland)

Video Prize: Holobomo, by Owen Eric Wood (Canada)
