Film projects: the 2018 selection

With its Industry programme, Visions du Réel has been providing for the past 16 years a space to work, for encounters and reflection for documentary professionals: international producers, directors, distributors, international sales agents and representatives from television companies, institutions and festivals from all over the world. The programmes of networking and educational events, pitching sessions and individual meetings with the invited professionals and experts, are designed to enable partnerships, co-productions or broadcast strategies to be put into place at every stage of film project development. The activities on offer throughout the Festival are built around the idea of providing long-term support for film creation and promotion.

Pitching du Réel: 15 projects in their development/production stage

Fifteen feature-length film projects will be presented and discussed in round tables and one-to-one meetings with potential partners, commissioning editors, producers, distributors and funders.

Rough Cut Lab: 4 projects in their editing stage

Dedicated to films in their final production stages, the Rough Cut Lab offers a space for coaching, expert advice and privileged access to decision makers. The idea is to assist filmmakers in finding the best way to finish their films. Each rough cut will be screened and discussed with the film team and experts for three hours, moderated by a tutor.

Docs in Progress: 8 projects in their postproduction stage

Docs in Progress presents a selection of eight feature documentaries in their final stages with a trailer and a rough cut excerpt to be viewed by festival representatives, distributors, producers and TV commissioning editors. Informal exchange are encouraged while individual meetings can be organised on site.
