SWISS FILMS in Cannes 2021

We are looking forward to Festival de Cannes 2021 with two Swiss world premieres: OLGA, the first feature film by Elie Grappe and the short film ON SOLID GROUND by Jela Hasler are selected for the competition of the renowned Semaine de la Critique.

In our line up at the Marché du Film are gems like THE FAM by Frédéric Baillif, a social drama about a group of teenage girls living in a residential care home; the documentary THE TIGER MAFIA by Karl Ammann and Laurin Merz uncovers illegal breeding in South East Asian tiger farms. An impressive nine-year investigation by the filmmakers.

Furthermore, Swiss actress Souheila Yacoub stars in two French films screening in the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs Selection 2021: THE BRAVES by Anaïs Volpé and A BRIGHTER TOMORROW by Yassine Qnia.

Swiss production company Garidi Films (Consuelo Frauenfelder) coproduced the festival's opening film, ANNETTE by Leos Carax. The first English-language film by the French star director stars Marion Cotillard and Adam Driver.

With his production company Bord Cadre films, Swiss producer Dan Wechsler presents three festival films: MEMORIA by Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Competition), PETROV'S FLU by Kyrill Srebrenikov (Competition) and NOCHE DE FUEGO by Tatiana Huezo (Un certain regard).

Have a look at our selection and recently released films in our e-booklet Cannes 2021. Read more about SWISS FILMS at the Marché du Film in Cannes in our press release.
