NEW YORK, April 27, 2018 – Entertainment studio SingularDTV joins Le Marché du Film’s NEXT program, which opens up to blockchain technology for the first time this year.
Blockchain brings total transparency to the film industry. Information is continuously synced by independent computers around the world. This, which makes it potentially impossible for one party to make adjustments to valuable information, such as copyrights, revenue or streaming metrics.
Headquartered in Switzerland, SingularDTV helps filmmakers fundraise, develop and distribute their content using blockchain technology. The company also creates original content. Notable projects include Alex Winter’s feature-length documentary TRUST MACHINE: THE STORY OF BLOCKCHAIN, which is currently in post-production. THE HAPPY WORKER by director Duwayne Dunham (HOMEWARD BOUND: THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY, LITTLE GIANTS) and executive-produced by David Lynch, is in pre-production.
This year blockchain technology was the buzzword in Berlin Film Festival, SXSW and Tribeca Film Festival. In Cannes, industry leader SingularDTV goes beyond the hype by showing how blockchain can bring added value to the film industry, sharing best practices at various panels.
Founded two years ago, SingularDTV already has its apps up and running, with content already signed up and in production while many players in the blockchain field are still in the fundraising stage with only a website and social media presence to show for their activities.
