Members of the European Parliament in the Committee on Culture will present what has been done to support creative and cultural sector, taking the opportunity to launch a dialogue with the professionals on fostering cultural diversity, supporting freedom of creativity and expression and discussing the challenges faced by the sector. With European Elections in one year, the panel wants to pave the way to develop ideas with Creative and Cultural Sector.

Prime Video France's Sahar Baghery (Head of Content) and Thomas Dubois (Head of Originals) will take the stage in an exclusive panel to share insights on their experiences in film production and discuss how Prime Video France has achieved success. The discussion will open with a concrete project and success story, followed by a look at their French Original and French Acquisitions content strategy, diving into the how-to's of the streaming giant when it comes to working in film. Guest speakers will also share tips and best practices based on their experiences.

In the second half of the panel, the strategy presentation will focus on a case-study analysis of “Overdose” (2022), a film by Olivier Marchal produced by Gaumont. Producers Marine Forde and Guillaume Colboc will join Thomas Dubois onstage for this presentation.

The debate will also highlight how our panelists use innovative solutions that promote sustainable practices in their studios, in their offices, and in the communities where they shoot.

The conference will be launched with a welcome by Stan McCoy, (President and Managing Director, MPA EMEA); followed by keynote remarks by Charles Rivkin, (Chairman and CEO, MPA).

Parts of the independent film industry are currently engaged in a crucial discussion about the need for more equitable and accountable curation in film programming and selection processes. More and more filmmakers and industry stakeholders alike are openly questioning the traditional power structures that have historically influenced art and cultural institutions with the goal to achieve diversity, inclusion, and representation at all levels.

In this session, we will explore the latest curatorial trends, sustainable career paths, and effective audience engagement strategies from the filmmaker's perspective. Our panelists, from diverse geographies and artistic backgrounds, will share their experiences with ethical representation, storytelling, and questions of their sovereignty that they have faced making and disseminating their documentary films. Together, we will also delve into how filmmakers navigate the challenges posed by the persistence of selection processes lacking awareness and accountability mechanisms and how they can influence the freedom of the filmmaker's artistic vision of the maker.

For the past few years, the number of movies produced and directed by Iranian Diaspora have increasingly grown internationally, as well as their success and recognition. At the same time, Iran experienced what is considered the greatest crackdown on Iranian cinema. What are the different challenges to make these movies in and outside Iran? How has their representation of Iranian Society evolved over time? To what extent does it reflect the youth, modernity and dynamism of a country in revolution?
