UN CERTAIN REGARD

La Ciotat, the South of France. Antoine attends a writing workshop in which a few young people have been selected to write a crime thriller with the help of Olivia, a famous novelist. The creative process will recall the town's industrial past, a form of nostalgia which Antoine feels indifferent. More concerned with the fears of the modern world, the young man soon clashes with the group and Olivia, who seems at the same time alarmed and captivated by Antoine's violence.

But few days before their departure, Mahmoud, Leila’s big brother, comes back from his long-term stay in Yemen, during which he has changed drastically. Wanting to reframe Leila’s life, that he judges indecent, Mahmoud decides to confine his sister and stray her from her boyfriend. How can Armand free Leila? For his friends, Armand has no other choice – if he wants to sneak in Leila’s apartment – he will have to wear a niqab. The next day, a new woman in niqab walks through Paris… Her name is Shéhérazade…

Scraping by flushing septic systems is not Chip's vision of a perfect life. But he's a simple guy and he's got a great girlfriend in Liza. Sure, she supplements their income with a sugar daddy, but every relationship has it's own complexities. When Liza suggests that they relieve her sleazy benefactor of a stack of cash, Chip begins to see a side of her he never knew existed...or never wanted to admit. Now he's got a gun in his hand, a girl in his trunk and less than 24 hours to figure his way out of this mess.

Kjetil, a Norwegian offshore worker is a recent widower, now left alone to take care of his adopted son, Daniel. Unable to deal with his single parent role, Kjetil decides to bring Daniel back to Colombia, where a taxi driver helps him look for the biological mother.

At the age of 26, Karl Marx embarks with his wife Jenny on the road to exile. In Paris in 1844 they meet young Friedrich Engels, son of a factory owner, who’s studied the sordid beginnings of the English proletariat. Engels, somewhat of a dandy, brings Karl Marx the missing piece to the puzzle that composes his new vision of the world. Together, between censorship and police raids, riots and political upheavals, they will preside over the birth of the labor movement, which until then had been mostly makeshift and unorganized. This will grow into the most complete theoretical and political transformation of the world since the Renaissance – driven, against all expectations, by two brilliant, insolent and sharp-witted young men from good families.  

Ian and Samantha head to a national park, hoping the bush will give them space for some quiet time together. They arrive at an isolated campsite to find an SUV and a tent – no sign of the occupants. As night falls and the campers fail to return, Ian and Sam grow increasingly uneasy. The discovery of a distressed child wandering in the woods unleashes a terrifying chain of events that test the young couple to breaking point.
