The Fast and The Furious Races Down the Croisette at Cannes 2026

To end off the first day of the Cannes Film Festival, members of the cast and crew of The Fast and The Furious (2001) came back to the Croisette to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film as a part of the Cannes Classic Series. The cast in attendance included Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster, along with late Paul Walkers daughter Meadow Walker.

Vin Diesel speaks to the crowd during the opening of The Fast and The Furious

In true Vin Diesel fashion, he took his time going down the line of fans outside when he arrived, stopping to take photos with as many people as he could before he was ushered into the venue. Once he arrived, he spoke on the film and his love for Cannes, mentioning how he first arrived on the Croisette with only a laundry basket and a film to sell. Diesel remarked that he was forever grateful for the festival, as it's where he believes he was truly born into the world of film. After the opening remarks were given, Diesel stepped out of the screening.

The Fast and The Furious (2001) is an American film by Rob Cohen: "Los Angeles street racer Dominic Toretto falls under the suspicion of the LAPD as a string of high-speed electronics truck robberies rocks the area. Brian O’Connor, an officer of the LAPD, joins the ranks of Toretto’s highly skilled racing crew undercover to convict Toretto. However, O’Connor finds himself both enamored with this new world and in love with Toretto’s sister, Mia. As a rival racing crew gains strength, O’Connor must decide where his loyalty really lies."
