'Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma' Opens Un Certain Regard
On Wednesday evening, Jane Schoenbrun's Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma had it's world premiere at Debussy Theatre as the first film to play from the Un Certain Regard selection. The screening amassed a lengthy queue of fans eager to see Schoenbrun's third feature film. Starring Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson, the film follows a filmmaker looking to revive and old franchise of 80's slasher films called Camp Miasma. The film received a 6 minute standing ovation at it's premiere and has so far been very well liked by fans and critics. The film approaches topics of desire and queerness, questioning true reality in a humorous yet sincere manner. Releasing in theaters August 7th, Variety writes that Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma could very well gain a "cult obsession" from fans.
