Red Carpet Transformation!
Besides the swarm of celebrities, directors, producers, paparazzi and onlookers, no award show or film festival would be complete without the Red Carpet. This legendary stretch of fabric which graciously leads guests from their flashy cars to the doors of the theatre, has become a character itself during these fine events. In a way, it has become somewhat of a celebrity, being present in the most glamorous of settings. Admiring it during the day it is easy to say that even bare, it is never just a carpet. Yet despite it's constant allure the transformation of the carpet from day to night is without a doubt incredible. Being lucky enough to step foot on the Red Carpet during the premiere of Spring Fever by Lou Ye, it was amazing to see and feel the exihileration of being on it at night. Flashes of light bounced off the faces of beautiful people draped in fluttering chiffon and elegant gowns as crowds of fans screamed and waved. Standing at the top of the stairs looking down onto the carpet before the premiere was a completely different experience than standing near the front mid-day, with nothing on it but a small cluster of security guards.
Regardless of the changing aura of the Red Carpet as the day turns into night, there always remains some sort of appeal that seperates this symoblic entity from just being any other carpet.
