Press Conference featuring The Dead Don't Die

By Nicholas Leffel

Earlier today in a press conference of the first premiere of the Cannes Film Festival, "The Dead Don't Die," director Jim Jarmusch and much of the cast extensively discussed all of the real world implications that were said to have been represented in the film. Of the themes from the apocalyptic horror film, the most notable was that pertaining to society's treatment of the planet and the devestating effects it could have. The response from the table was that the film equally represented a mixture of different themes including, yes, climate change, but also themes such as the danges of social media, materialism, and how we go about as a society. Along with that, Jarmusch expressed how fun of a movie it was to create and really praised everyone who worked on it with him. All in all, it looks like the first premiere at the Cannes Film Festival was a success and has everyone thinking.
