"Pope Francis: A Man of His Word" Blesses Theaters

Wim Wenders brings one of the world's most well-known personalities to the Festival this year. The Hors Competition film “Pope Francis: A Man of His Word” tells of the reign of Pope Francis and gives the background of St. Francis of Assissi, the man who took a life of poverty to carry out the work and teachings of God. St. Francis' lifestyle drives the habits and beliefs of Pope Francis, whose actions have caused a stir in the Vatican and in the global Catholic community. Starting with the announcement of Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio as the pope in 2013, the film showcases the key mpments that highlight Pope Francis’ radically different take on the role of the Catholic church in society. Throughout each stage of the movie, viewers come to understand what makes Pope Francis stand out from his predecessors. Passionate, understanding, intelligent, and aware of the world’s disparities, Pope Francis is a pope for the people. Wenders’ admirably showcases this fact, while keeping the minimalistic tone that the Pope has carried throughout his tenure.

"Pope Francis: A Man of His Word" will be released in the United States of America on May 18th of this year.
