Amfar 2009: A Glamorous Night for a Great Cause

Amfar's 2009 'Cinema Against AIDS' gala, set at the Hotel du Cap in Antibes was packed with more than enough star power.  Although the du Cap is a new venue for the event, things seemed to run smoothly as the guests ate, drank, and bid on Chanel Segways all for a good cause.  We hear that this year's party raised approximately 1.6 million dollars, though this sum pales in comparison to last year's reported 7 million dollars raised for Amfar.

So just who was there?  Why, everyone of course.  Sharon Stone, the Amfar Global Chair, hosted the event with as much class and beauty as ever, although some guests remarked that her auctioning skills are not what they used to be, as this part of the night seemed to drag on.  In attendance were some of the biggest movie stars, models and larger than life personalities from around the world including the cast of 'Inglorious Bastards' except for an absent Brad Pitt, Marion Cotillard, Josh Hartnett, Joshua Jackson, Claudia Schiffer,  Emile Hirsch, 50 cent and many many more.

The guests arrived to storm of camera flashes and heckles from the press as they walked down the black carpet.  Guests then proceeded to walk through the du Cap's beautiful court yard (a low point in the night for women in 5 inch plus heals) toward the event's main tent which was decked out in Versace table ware and featured remarks by Bill Clinton and a performance by Annie Lennox.  Lennox reportedly was displeased with the audiences lack of attention and threw a glass of water down after she finished performing.  

Overall, a fabulous time was had by all and guests smiled, joked, and walked a little less straight as they headed to the after party held at the poolside restaurant of the du Cap overlooking the sea.
