DocLands 2019 Call For Entries Now Open

CALIFORNIA FILM INSTITUTE ANNOUNCES

3rd Annual DOCLANDS DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL

ANNOUNCES 2019 DATES, MAY 2 – 5, AND CALL FOR ENTRIES

Mark Fishkin, Founder of the internationally known Mill Valley Film Festival and Executive Director/Founder of the California Film Institute (CFI), announced today that the 3rd annual DocLands Documentary Film Festival, will be held Thursday, May 2 – Sunday, May 5, 2019 in Marin County, California.

The 2019 Festival will build on the success of the second edition of DocLands, which featured 43 feature length and short documentary films, from 11 countries, showcasing documentary films in a variety of genres and diversity of content. The 2018 Festival included two signature programs, DocPitch and DocTalk, continuing as part of the 2019 Festival. DocPitch provides a forum for filmmakers to connect with distributors, nonprofit organizations, philanthropists, fellow filmmakers and future audiences and connects documentary filmmakers and their works in progress to distributors, organizations, philanthropists, fellow filmmakers, and future audiences. At last year’s Festival, five pitching teams competed for a cash award of $10,000, which accelerated to $25,000 thanks to the generosity of an audience member at the event. DocTalk produced another impressive turnout, fostering a dynamic discussion around the story-enhancing power of music and score with filmmakers Louie Psihoyos, Velcrow Ripper, Speech Thomas, Connie Fields, and Alexandria Bombach.

Submissions for the 2019 Festival will open November 1, 2018 for traditional and innovative feature length (40 + minutes) and short documentary films. Filmmakers can submit a film for consideration via upload through the Film Freeway submission platform only. No DVDs or external links will be considered. Presentation formats accepted are 35mm and DCP only.

The Festival is curated by the widely respected and talented programming team including Mark Fishkin, Director of Programming Joni Cooper, who else?
