The Order in Which you Should Watch Star Wars

Star Wars has become one of the longest movie series but this list guides you to watch all Star Wars movies in the right chronological order.

Star Wars is the ultimate space opera movie franchise created by George Lucas that started back in 1977 and it soon became a worldwide phenomenon. The franchise has given us some of the best movies as well as video games up to date. However, if you have already spent a lot of bucks buying star war game keys and want to move on to the movies, we have got you covered.

To help you save some precious time exploring the depths of the internet to find the right chronological sequence in which you should be watching these movies, here is a quick guide to help you out with the order you watch the movies according to the timeline they are set in to best understand the whole franchise.

  1. A New Hope

A New Hope falls on the 6th spot in the series but it is supposedly the first movie to be watched as it showcases the start of everything. It is the only Star Wars movie that feels independent and doesn’t require the viewers to have some knowledge.

  1. Rogue One

Rogue One right away backs A New Hope and it kind of starts where A New Hope ends but treats you as if you have watched A New Hope already so we suggest you reverse the order in watching them. Rogue One follows the daughter of the Death Star’s creator as she is freed by the Rebel Alliance.

  1. The Emperor Strikes Back

Luke begins his Jedi training with Yoda while Han Solo and Princess Leia go the cloud city to meet Han’s old friend and are later betrayed. Vader uses them to lure Luke out and the movie ends in a fight between Vader and Luke which ends with a twist. The Emperor Strikes Back is regarded as one of the best sequels of all time.

  1. The Phantom Menace

This surely has to be the most loathed installment in the whole of the franchise. In an attempt of protecting the queen of Naboo, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn find a young slave named Anakin Skywalker. The movie provides important details which you shouldn’t miss

  1. Attack of the Clones

Attack of the clones shows us what led Darth Vader to become the ultimate villain and the birth of the Stormtroopers as well.

  1. Revenge of the Sith

Anakin starts getting lured to the dark side and ultimately becomes Darth Vader and destroys the Republic, killing many Jedi and all the young padawans.

  1. Solo

This movie gives us a glance back into the life of the coolest character in the whole franchise, Han Solo. The movie also gives important informant about the infamous ship, Millenium Falcon.

  1. Return of the Jedi

Featuring teddy bears from the stone-age accompanying Luke, this movie features a lot of the key points that make up the base of the whole franchise so you have to make sure you don’t miss this one.

  1. The Mandalorian

The hit TV series on Disney+ is a must-watch. With two seasons, it follows the story of Pedro Pascal, the Mandalorian who makes his way into the furthest reaches of the galaxy. It is set in a time 5 years after the Return of the Jedi.

  1. The Book of Boba Fett

Bobba Fett worked with Fennec Shard to claim the criminal empire of Jabba the Hut as its own. It hit the theatres on 29 December 2021 and remains to be one of the greatest additions to the series.

  1. The Force Awakens

This is the first Star Wars movie after it was purchased by Disney. The movie is set in a time 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi. There are conflicts and tensions between Republic and The First Order. The movie also introduces Rey, a young girl with special abilities.

  1. The Last Jedi

Rey is after Luke, tracking him to train her while Luke won’t stop thinking about his failures with Kylo Ren. Republic stands on the verge of being entirely wiped out, Rey and Luke being the last hope.

  1. The Rise of Skywalker

At the end of the Skywalker saga, Emperor Palpatine returns as The First Order and Rebels led by Rey prepare for the final battle on the planet of Exegol.

With the help of this guide, you can now peacefully binge watch and understand the whole storyline of Star Wars from start to finish without having any trouble. Of course, there are many more to come so we will be back in a year or two extending this guide to include all the new and upcoming titles as well. Happy Binge-Watching!
