
SALENTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL OF ICELAND

The Italian Cultural Institute in Oslo and the University of Iceland, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Oslo, present the first Iceland Salento International Film Festival that will take place at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik on 8-9 November.
The SIFF project confirms its international prestige characterized by its high quality contents and an accurate research on contemporary cultural expressions. SIFF aims at making the world a more compassionate place by sharing passionate stories, aware that cinema is one of the most powerful forms of cultural communication and bond between cultures and peoples.
At the 1st edition of the Iceland Salento International Film Festival the highlight is on 3 Italian films: the Iceland premiere “Il Ministro” (The Minister) by Giorgio Amato, is a grotesque comedy about scandals, bribes and corruption, with a desperate entrepreneur who will stop at nothing and a corrupt politician ready for anything, and the two most recent movies by Edoardo Winspeare: "Quiet Bliss"(2014) and “Ark of Disperata”(2017).

Edoardo Winspeare, is a unique director who, recounting his own region, has confirmed his enormous skill in the use of language, subject matter and universal feelings. His films, which have won prizes at the Venice and Rome festivals and have been released in more than 30 countries, are all set and filmed in Salento. His characters speak in the Salento dialect, a language distinct from Italian and that requires subtitles outside Puglia.
Winspeare studied at the University of Television and Film in Munich and founded the Production Company Saietta Film

Celeste Casciaro was nominated for the Silver Ribbons and the Golden Globe for foreign press as Best Actress for "Quite Bliss"; She won the Award of the Magazine "Los Straniero" as best actress for Quite Bliss. She received three awards for best actress for the short film "Syndrome"

Giorgio Amato is famous for his two films: "Il Ministro" (The Minister) 2016, a black comedy produced by Golden and distributed by EuroPictures and Rai Cinema; The Stalker, (2013) drama, produced by Ambi Pictures and distributed by Eagle Pictures and "Circuito Chiuso" (Closed Circuit) 2010, thriller, produced and distributed by Rai Cinema.
