Tiberius Film acquires Z FOR ZACHARIAH and further film highlights
Munich, February 10th. In the framework of the Berlinale 2016 the German independent film distributor Tiberius Film comes up with top-class purchases. In addition to the star-studded sci-fi-thriller Z FÜR ZACHARIAS (OT: Z for Zachariah) Tiberius Film secured the rights for the action-movie RIOT with action-star Dolph Lundgren in the leading part and for the Arte-series FRANKREICH GEGEN DEN REST DER WELT (OT: Au Service De La France). Furthermore the film distributor acquires the food-documentation GASTONS KÜCHE (OT: Buscando a Gastón) about the Peruvian star cook Gastón Acurio.
The thriller Z FÜR ZACHARIAS (OT: Z for Zachariah), directed by Craig Zobel, is the adaption of the classic sci-fi-novel by Robert C. O'Brien. Besides Hollywood-star Chris Pine („Star Trek: Into Darkness“, „Kill the Boss 2“) and the Oscar-nominated Chiwetel Ejiofor („12 Years a Slave“, „The Martian“), Margot Robbie („The Big Short“, „The Wolf of Wall Street“) completes the star ensemble, fighting for survival in the post-apocalypse. The movie celebrated its world-premiere at the well-respected Sundance Film Festival.
In RIOT Matthew Reese fights his way through a prison alongside action-superstar Dolph Lundgren („The Expandables“, „Universal Soldier“), to take vengeance on a Russian mafia boss, played by the legendary mixed-martial arts fighter Chuck Liddell („Kick-Ass 2“, „Passion Play“). Director John Lyde staged a bonesmasher, packed with a lot of testosterone – though-minded und thrilling!
The French espionage-series FRANKREICH GEGEN DEN REST DER WELT (OT: Au Service De La France) focuses on the young André Merlaux, who is trained to become a special agent in Paris in 1960. Self-deprecating, stylish and with a lot of charm and black humor, the series, which successfully aired on Arte in 2015, transports the 60s lifestyle with real „Mad Men”-flair. Jean-François Halin, who was involved in the comedy „OSS 117 - Der Spion, der sich liebte" with Jean Dujardin and in the French cult satire program „Les Guignols de l'info“, assisted in the screenplay. Hugo Becker, who is best-known for his role in the series „Gossip Girl”, plays the young special agent.
In the field of documentation Tiberius Film acquired once again a highlight: GASTONS KÜCHE (OT: Buscando a Gastón) provides a fascinating insight into the world of the Peruvian star cook Gastón Acurio. In Peru he is presumed to be a national hero – not only appreciated for his culinary success but also for his social engagement. Internationally he is seen as one of the most established cooks. Thanks to beautiful pictures, the viewer is taken on a journey into the world of an impressive personality and into a breath-taking South American country.
