MYANMAR DIARIES WINS THREE PRIZES AT BERLINALE
ZINDOC's new feature documentary MYANMAR DIARIES by the Myanmar Film Collective won three awards at its world premiere last week at the Berlinale:
The Berlinale Documentary Award comes with a prize of 40 000 euros and makes the film eligible to be submitted to the 2023 Academy Awards.
We congratulate the other Panorama Dokumente Audience Award Winners, 1st Place: Aşk, Mark ve Ölüm (Love, Deutschmarks and Death) and 2nd Place: Nel mio nome (Into My Name).

TONY ELLIOTT IMPACT AWARD
Myanmar Diaries has also won the inaugural Tony Elliott Impact Award, awarded by TIME OUT and Human Rights Watch Film Festival in London. The film will screen there at the end of March. This is a 30 000 GBP award for generating impact with the film.
The jury of Rufus Elliott, Phil De Semlyen, and Anna Smith writes:
It's a truly arresting cocktail of nail-biting storytelling, guerilla inventiveness, raw courage and filmmaking craft. From the remarkable opening shot, which encapsulates the surreal confusion of an unfolding coup better than a hundred dialogue scenes ever could, to the guttural scenes of violence and trauma, it shines a bright light on repression and authoritarianism. It doesn't request the viewer's focus on this still-unfolding crisis, it demands it.
