The winners of the festival Bridge of Arts 2018

The closing ceremony of the IV International Motivational Film and Sports Festival BRIDGE of ARTS took place on October 14, 2018 in Multiplex Gorizont CINEMA&EMOTION in Rostov-on-Don. The names of main and short film competitions’ winners were announced at the event. The ceremony was hosted by Marat Basharov.
“It was the best festival I have ever visited and trust me – I have visited a lot of them. This one was the best and the merriest,” the statement of Hollywood star Eric Roberts was supported by all the guests who came to visit Rostov-on-Don from October 10-14 with their films, projects and ideas.
BRIDGE of ARTS 2018 came to end. This year it was unusual. Some people would call it public-facing, others would say it was not for everyone and mostly for cinephile. However, the best description of the festival would be the one given by BRIDGE of ARTS President Oleg Taktarov, “This is a motivational film festival created for all people, not some elite group.”
During the 5 days of BRIDGE of ARTS guests and jury members have watched over 80 films from 30 countries and visited workshops, pitch sessions and sports events. The large auditorium of Multiplex Gorizont CINEMA&EMOTION was full during the closing ceremony. There were of film and TV stars in the foyer. Viewers could contact to actor Kirill Emelyanov, stand-up star Sergey Kutergin, representatives of the closing film “Beverly Hills Bandits” Chris and Greg Williams, actor Egor Klimovich, special guest and legendary sportsman Don “The Dragon” Wilson and many others. Everyone was up for a chat. When the awarding ceremony started, the whole auditorium cheered and applauded.
BRIDGE of ARTS 2018 was a breakthrough for European debutants not only in short film competition but also in the main one.
As part of short film competition there were several prizes and diplomas awarded. Diploma “For the Realistic Image of War” went to Abbe Hassan (Sweden), director of the film “Gold”. Diploma “For the Creation of Original Artistic Reality” got Axel Courtiêre for his film “Delectable You”. The most surprising award – diploma “For the Poetic Embodiment of Love of Cinema” found its home at Kyrgyzstan due to the film “In Love with Cinema” directed by Askar Nurakun uulu.
The Best Director Award went to Bernhard Wenger for his film “Excuse Me, I’m Looking for the Ping-Pong Room and My Girlfriend” created in cooperation with Austria, Germany and Sweden.
“Magic Alps” directed by Andrea Brusa and Marco Scotuzzi (Italy) was awarded as the Best Short Film.
The Russian Guild of Film Critics awarded their two “Slon” prizes. A director Luís Diogo (Portugal) was handed his prize by David Shneyderov for the film “A Sublime Life” which is released on October 18 in Russia.
The Guild’s prize went to the film “Crystal Swan” by Belarusian director Darya Zhuk.
The High School of Cinema and Television “Ostankino” appraised the acting of two Chechen actors Isa Dadaev and Mansur Zataev in the film “The Last Test” directed by Alexei Petrukhin. They were awarded by “Debut” diploma. “The Last Test” is ro be released on October 18 in Russia.
The French film “Looking for Teddy” have received three main prizes – Best Screenplay to Julien Hervê and Philippe Mechelen, Best Actor to Malik Bentalha and the Grand Prix of the International Motivational Film and Sports Festival BRIDGE of ARTS.
Nevertheless, the debut film of Belarusian director Darya Zhuk took the Best Actress award – to Alina Nasibullina – and the Best Director prize.
Most of the awards have been taken by the film “Crystal Swan”, but the director Darya Zhuk could not come at the festival. Italian producer Roberto Bessi stated his willingness to see her: “We must meet, we have plenty to talk about,” – said Roberto meaningfully. “Besides, I really enjoyed Rostov, it bears certain resemblance to the South of Italy. And now I am going to think how to promote your beautiful city to make good films here.”
The Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region, Chairman of BRIDGE of ARTS Organizing Committee Yury Molodchenko also told about good films: “BRIDGE of ARTS is a unique project, which enables people to see life through the lens of good and love. During these few days so many cultural and sports events took place in the city that it becomes clear that the festival will be better and more interesting from year to year…”
