Lifetime Achievement Award

The 2019 ICFF Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Oscar-winning composer Nicola Piovani for his outstanding contributions to film. Piovani is responsible for more than 150 film scores, including the soundtrack to Roberto Benigni’s Life is Beautiful/La vita è bella, which earned the great Maestro the 1999 Academy Award for Best Original Score. During ICFF 2019, Piovani performed and exclusive concert, Music is Dangerous/La Musica è Pericolosa at the TIFF Bell Lightbox.

This year’s People’s Choice Award has for the first time ever concluded with a tie: Io Sono Mia and Nati 2 Volte.
Director of RAI Italia, Marco Giudici, accepted the award for Io Sono Mia, and Director Pierliugi Di Lallo, accepted the award for Nati 2 volte at the ICFF Closing Gala.

Winner of the ICFF Special Achievement award for Best Actress is none other than Jennifer Dale. Dale has graced the Canadian film and television industry for more than 40 years. During ICFF 2019, she celebrated both her Canadian and Italian roots.

|
Italy’s King of Comedy, Ezio Greggio, was presented with an ICFF Special Achievement Award for outstanding contributions to film and cinema over his decades-long career. Greggio, one of this year’s top guest stars and creator of the Montecarlo Film Festival – an entire festival dedicated to comedic cinema – has been making audiences laugh for more than 30 years with his hit television program, Striscia la Notizia. This year he presented his satire comedy Box Office 3D to his Canadian fans at ICFF 2019.

The 2019 ICFF Empire Community Award was given to Italian-American filmmaker Nick Vallelonga, for his latest film Green Book, based on the true life story of his father, know as Tony Lip. The film, took home three Academy Awards this year for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor. At the ICFF Closing Gala Vallelonga spoke about the importance of making this film and the challenges of portraying true events on the big screen. The award was presented by Miles Dale, winner of last year’s Empire Community Award, for his work on the 2018 Oscar-winning film, The Shape of Water.
