Asia Pacific Screen Awards Nominations Council announced

Brisbane Marketing - Brisbane's Economic Development Board

Today we are thrilled to reveal our esteemed International Nominations Council. The council is chaired by long-time member Hong-Joon Kim (Republic of Korea) who will sit alongside Tusi Tamasese (New Zealand/Samoa), Sherwood Hu (People’s Republic of China), Bina Paul (India), Anne Démy-Geroe (Australia), Gulnara Abikeyeva (Kazakhstan) and Delphine Garde-Mroueh (France).

The APSA International Nominations Council will meet in Brisbane in September to determine the nominees for Best Feature Film, Achievement in Directing, Achievement in Cinematography, Best Screenplay and Best Performance by an Actress and Actor. They will also determine the nominees in the prestigious Cultural Diversity Award under the patronage of UNESCO. Nominees will compete at the 12th Asia Pacific Screen Awards on 29 November in Brisbane, Australia.

We were happy to see the large representation of APSA nominees and winners at the esteemed Sydney Film Festival earlier this month. The comprehensive program included the Australian premieres of the APSA Children’s Film Fund Recipient and 2017 Best Youth Feature Film winner The Seen and Unseen and MPA APSA funded films Burning and The Wild Pear Tree. The 2017 Jury Grand Prize recipient, Ana Urushadze, presented her APSA winning film Scary Mother, while International Jury Member Yoshi Yatabe and FIAPF Award winner Bianca Balbuena sat on the festival’s jury.

We’d also like to congratulate our 2017 International Jury President Jill Bilcock, who was recently made a Companion of the Order of Australia for her work editing some of Australia’s most iconic works of cinema.

Exciting news on the horizon. Stay in touch with us on Facebook and Twitter to be the first to hear the latest from the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.
