2019 FIFOG AWARD WINNERS

Geneva, the 4th of May
|
The award ceremony of the 14th edition of the Geneva International Oriental Film Festival was held on May the 4th in a festive atmosphere thanks to various artistic interludes: dances, humor and a fashion show. On this occasion, the juries of the feature, short film, documentary, critic and school competitions made their respective prize lists public. The evening was prolonged with the screening of Ken Scott's L'Extraordinaire voyage du fakir", in the presence of actor Abel Jafri and Executive Producer Yamina Belarbi.

FIFOG continues in Geneva and its surroundings
|
The festival also takes place on Sunday with multiple screenings in the presence of several guests. On Sunday, the public can still enjoy movies with an oriental cinema-brunch. The audience will also have the opportunity to participate in two debates on the rights of LGBT communities in the East and on dialogue between Palestinians and settlers in Israel. After the weekend, the FIFOG will invest several shelters for asylum seekers located in the Geneva area.

1. FEATURE-LENGTH AWARDS
The jury of the feature film competition is composed of Tassadit Mandi (actress), Juanita Wilson (director), Nadia Kaci (actress), Mohammed Belghouat (festival director), Nejib Belhassen (actor) and Laurent Nègre (director).
The winner of the GOLDEN FIFOG Award is DRESSAGE by Pooya Badkoobeh (Iran)
The winner of the SILVER FIFOG Award is FATWA by Mahmoud ben Mahmoud (Tunisia)
The Special Mention has been awarded to the film A GENOUX LES GARS by Antoine Desrosières (France)
2. CRITICS AWARDS
The jury of the Critics' Prize is composed of journalists Catherine Fiankan-Bokonga, Dorra Megdiche and Emmanuel Deonna.
The winner of the GOLDEN FIFOG Award is PHOTOCOPY by Tamer Ashry (Egypt)
The Special Mention has been awarded to the film L'HOMME ET LA TOMBE by Joud Saïd (Syria)
3. DOCUMENTARIES AWARDS
The documentary prize jury is composed of Annemiek Van Gorp (producer), Mahmoud Jemni (director) and René Goosens (producer).
The winner of the GOLDEN FIFOG Award is AU TEMPS OU LES ARABES DANSAIENT by Jawad Rhalib (Belgium)
The winner of the SILVER FIFOG Award is RESTER VIVANTS by Pauline Beugnies (Belgium)
The Special Mention is awarded to the documentaries M by Yolande Zauberman (France) and WE COULD BE HEROES by Hind Bensari (Morocco, Tunisia)
4. SHORT FILMS AWARDS
The jury of the short film competition is composed of Anaëlle Morf (director), actor Hakim (actor and director) and director Traïdia and Mouloud Zedek (composer and singer).
The winner of the GOLDEN FIFOG Award is GAUCHE DROITE by Moutii Dridi (Tunisia)
The winner of the SILVER FIFOG Award is HEVI by Mohammed Shaikhow (Syria, France, Qatar)
The Special Mention is awarded to the film THE SNAIL by Mohammed Towrivarian (Iran)
