20th Sundance Film Festival Feature Lineup

The 20th Sundance Film Festival 2011 (SFF2011) held in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Sundance, Utah, commence January 20-30, 2011. The festival supported by the nonprofit Sundance Institute, founded by Robert Redford annually presents highly acclaimed independent cinema from American and International filmmakers.

This year’s festival celebrates its 20th anniversary by showcasing over 100 American and international films in and out of competition (narrative, documentary, animated, shorts) from 21 countries including opening and closing premieres, gala receptions, panel discussions, awards ceremony, and special events. SFF2011 will debut the Out-of-Competition Documentary Premiere program and the Indigenous Shorts program. For further information, visit http://sundance.slated.com/2011/films.

The Sundance Film Festival categories are From the Collection (Sundance archive collection at UCLA), New Frontier (traditional cinema), Native Showcase (native American and Indigenous program), Next <=> (indie films created with limited resources), Park City at Midnight (comedy and horror films), and Spotlight (cinema we love).

SFF2011 out-of-competition presented by Entertainment Weekly showcasing films of the coming year include 14 premieres, 8 documentaries, 8 next (<=>), 1 native, 1 from the collection, 11 spotlight, 8 park city, and 5 new frontier. SFF2011 competition will feature 15 U.S. documentaries, 16 U.S. dramatics, 12 World cinema documentaries, and 13 World cinema dramatics. In addition, SFF2011 slate consists of 81 short films.
