By Maria Esteves - March 2, 2008
ORTHODOX STANCE Welterweight boxer Dmitriy Salita "Star of David" (28-0-1, 16 KOs) defeated his opponent Welterweight Fabian Luque "El Lobo" (21-7-4, 12 KOs) by a Technical Knock Out (TKO) in the fifth of ten rounds at the Roseland Ballroom, New York, Thursday, February 28, 10:00 PM. The Russians are coming boxing matches presented by Gotham Boxing in association with Bash Boxing, sponsored by Nemiroff, EVERLAST, Proactive Boxing and Automotive Warranty Solutions included an overwhelming twelve round ladies fight with three time Golden Gloves champion Eileen Olszewski "Hawaiian Mongoose" (4-0-1) who defeated WIBA Flyweight World Champion Elena Reid "Baby Doll" (19-3-5, 5 KO's).
Dmitriy Salita was in excellent physical condition and in complete control of the fight. In Rounds One and Four, Salita knocked down his opponent Luque. In Round Two, he hit his opponent in the family jewels (male groin). Then in Round Three, the Star of David furiously pounced El Lobo (The Wolf). Lastly, in Round Five, under doctor's recommendation, referee Benji Estevez stopped the fight and Salita won.
Salita's documentary film ORTHODOX STANCE, directed by Jason Hutt is an awe-inspiring story based on his life; a Chabad Orthodox Russian Jewish immigrant who takes on the sport of boxing at age 13. To check for theater listings visit OrthodoxStance.com.
