Ars Independent

Katowice’s Ars Independent festival announced the beginning of their call for entries for the feature film, animation, video game and – for the first time – music video competitions! Potential competitors for the title of the Black Horse and a monetary prize of 500 euros can be submitted until May 31.

The four international competitions are the core of Ars Independent. The Black Horse of Film is aimed at directors of full-length, feature debuts and second films. The authors of their first, second or school short form animation will showcase their work in the Black Horse of Animation competition. The Black Horse of Video Games and the Black Horse of Music Videos are dedicated to new video games and music videos. Works made after January 1, 2015 are eligible to enter the competitions.

Authors will compete for the title and statue of the Black Horse and a prize of 500 euros in all competitions. More details, entry forms, rules and regulations are available on the subpage Call for Black Horses.

It is worth mentioning that at this year’s Ars Independent, the winners will be chosen not by an expert jury as usual, but the festival audience. The nominees will be announced on August 22.

„One of the my most treasured memories of last year was a certain turn of phrase I’ve accidentaly overheard in a conversation: “that was such an Ars film”. We’re happy that the festival competitions, not just the movie ones, managed to establish themselves as a brand among our audience. This year it is them, our festivalgoers, who will decide on the Black Horses of film, animation, video games and music videos!” says Bartek Sołtysik, the festival’s spokeperson.

Ars Independent Festival 2016 will take place in Katowice, between September 27 and October 2. The event is organized by Katowice City of Gardens and the City of Katowice.
